It is said the top performing rising star of Freestate Kesa Moletsane will line up at the annual ASA Cross Country Championships with intentions of defending her 10k title, writes Bongani Nkosi, an up-coming athletics analyst.

In 2017, Moletsane made a name for herself in Spar Grand Prix, during the track and field season and now she heads to Potch to show how versatile an athlete she has become. She will have to battle it out against a small but strong field which includes experienced runners such as the current SA half marathon champ, Cornelia Joubert, multiple SA cross country champion, Glenrose Xaba and the reigning TomTom Tembisa Street Mile 10k champion Liziwe Mabona. Joubert is out to prove that she is capable of being crowned national champion twice is four months whilst Athletics Gauteng North’s Glenrose Xaba heads to Potch with a sub 35 minute 10k! Mabona, though, also has so much to prove on the day because Central Gauteng road running specialist Keneilwe Sesing will also want her presence felt throughout the race.

After successfully hosting #FillUpPotch, Potchefstroom seems is the place to be. Will an unfamiliar ‘Hungry Lioness’ spoil the fun on the day or will Moletsane bag another title? Perhaps Xaba will strike again or maybe CGA’s Joubert will set the bar too high on the day…it’s getting closer and closer, are you already on the #RoadToPotch?
